Village Walk Sunday 23rd June 2019

Date: Sunday 23rd June 2019

Start: 11.00am prompt (due to meal timing)

Meet: The rear of the Moors Inn, Appleton le Moor

Lunch Venue: The Moors Inn, Appleton le Moor

We both meet and park at the rear of the village pub (The Moors Inn)

We will be walking on very good bridleways and paths, mostly well-drained, with very little soft ground or mud.

It is a dog-friendly walk with short bouts of lead time, plus one barley field (not good for dogs), but that has an excellent, very wide, hard surfaced track all the way through. Otherwise, there are lots of opportunity to run dogs freely. There is only one, very easy, new & sturdy stile, which also has a dog walk-through 'slide gate’.

The walk offers wild flowers, lovely windy river and long-distance views. Easy paths and bridleways with mostly very easy or very moderate gradients, lots of which are through very pretty broad-leafed woods, offering welcome shade on (hopefully) hot summer days!

Our coffee stop will be on Sinnington village green, right by the pretty river - lots of seating! Then, out of the village we skirt the pretty church and also the house that had belonged to Lord Latimer

“….the manor of the village was held by a succession of Norman lords latterly, the Latimers, with the widow of the third Lord Latimer, Katherine Parr becoming the sixth wife of Henry VIII. ”

The pub menu is attached. Please advise your choices by 5pm 15th June, thank you.
