Walking Group
The walking group engages in Sunday walks in the North York Moors and surrounding areas every month. The walks are about 6 miles (2.5 hours) long and culminate in lunch at a local inn.
In addition, once a month on Fridays, some members complete sequential legs of a long distance path (at present the Esk Valley Walk).
Every year, in early October the "Long Range Walkers" spend a weekend away covering about 30 miles during the weekend. This coming year we plan to walk the first 30 miles of the "St Oswald's Way" from Holy Island to Craster down the Northumbrian coast.
The walking group has over 50 members, 25% of the village population. Most are walkers but some are purely social members, enjoying the company and hospitality after the walkers have done their stuff.
